Privacy Policy
ZodiacSignal was built so that it would not need your data. The astronomy runs on your phone, there is no account to create, and we operate no server that your birth details are ever sent to. This policy explains what that means in practice — and names the few places where a third party is unavoidably involved.
ZodiacSignal is built and operated by an independent developer based in India — one person, not a company, reachable at [email protected]. Where data protection law would call someone the controller of your personal data, that is who it means. In practice there is nothing to control: see below.
The short version: we collect nothing about you. Your birth data lives in the app on your device, and — if you have iCloud switched on — in your private iCloud database, which we cannot read. No analytics, no advertising identifiers, no tracking, no data sold or shared. Ever.
1. What we collect
Nothing. ZodiacSignal has no user accounts, no sign-in, and no backend of ours for the app to talk to. We do not receive your name, email address, birth details, chart, readings, saved Cosmic Twins, location, device identifiers or usage statistics — because none of it is transmitted to us.
The app ships an Apple privacy manifest declaring no collected data types and no tracking, and it contains no analytics, attribution, advertising or crash-reporting SDK of any kind.
2. What stays on your device
To draw a chart the app needs information from you. All of it is stored locally, in the app's own container:
- Birth date, birth time (optional) and birth place. The place is chosen from a city list bundled inside the app — no lookup is made over the network, and your device location is never requested.
- Your chart and every reading computed from it. Scores, verdicts, rare nights, the calendar and the daily line.
- Cosmic Twins — the birth details you enter for anyone you compare yourself against. Only enter someone else's details if they are content for you to do so.
- Your preferences — notification settings and app state.
The astronomy itself is computed on the phone. ZodiacSignal embeds the Swiss Ephemeris in analytical (Moshier) mode, so a reading requires no network request at all — the app works in airplane mode, and that is the design, not a fallback.
3. iCloud sync
If you are signed in to iCloud with iCloud Drive enabled, the app mirrors its database to your own iCloud private database so your chart survives a new phone. This is Apple's CloudKit acting on your Apple Account, in a container only your devices and the app can address. We hold no credentials for it and have no ability to read, export or restore its contents.
If iCloud is unavailable or switched off, the app runs entirely on-device and nothing leaves the phone. Your use of iCloud is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
4. Third parties
There are three, and this is the complete list:

We do not use advertising networks, data brokers, A/B testing services or session recorders, and we do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising as those terms are defined under the CPRA or comparable law.
5. Purchases
ZodiacSignal Pro is sold as an auto-renewing subscription through Apple. Apple processes the payment and tells the app one thing: whether an active subscription exists. We receive no card number, billing address or purchase history, and we cannot identify you from a purchase. Refunds and billing questions are handled by Apple through reportaproblem.apple.com.
6. Notifications and widgets
Notifications are optional and are scheduled by your device from readings already computed on it. There is no push server, so no notification content ever passes through us.
Home Screen widgets read a small snapshot the app writes to a shared container on the same device. Nothing about a widget leaves the phone.
7. This website
zodiacsignal.com sets no cookies and runs no analytics. The waitlist form on the home page currently stores the address you type in your own browser's local storage and does not transmit it anywhere; if that changes, this policy will be updated before it does, and the form will say so.
The site loads fonts from Google Fonts, which means your browser makes a request to a Google server and Google receives your IP address in the ordinary course of serving that file. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs for security and reliability.
8. Keeping and deleting
Because we hold nothing, there is nothing on our side to retain or erase. Your data exists for as long as you keep it:
- Delete your chart from inside the app — Profile has a delete control that removes your birth data, your saved twins and every reading computed from them, on the device and in your iCloud database. It cannot be undone.
- Delete the app — removes the local database. iCloud copies are removed by deleting the app's data in iOS Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Account Storage.
9. Your rights
Under the GDPR, the UK GDPR, the CCPA/CPRA and the DPDP Act you have rights of access, correction, deletion, portability and objection over personal data a company holds about you. We hold none, so in practice these rights are exercised on your own device — the data is already in your hands, and the app can delete it on request in a single step.
Where any processing does occur, our lawful basis is the performance of a contract with you (providing the app you asked for) or your consent (notifications). You are welcome to write to us at any time to confirm the position, or to complain to your local data protection authority.
ZodiacSignal is operated from India and is subject to the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. Because the app transmits no personal data to us, there is no cross-border transfer to disclose: your data does not travel to India, or anywhere else, on our account. Where iCloud is enabled, Apple stores your data on Apple's own infrastructure under Apple's Privacy Policy, and we are not a party to it.
10. Children
ZodiacSignal is not directed to children and is not intended for use by anyone under 13, or under the minimum digital-consent age in their country where that is higher. We do not knowingly collect information from children — and, as above, we do not knowingly collect information from anyone.
11. Changes to this policy
If the product ever starts collecting something, this page will say so plainly and the date at the top will change before the collection begins — not after. Material changes will also be surfaced in the app.
